Video Summary

The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a 900-page conservative policy plan, proposes significant changes for a potential future conservative presidency. It suggests redefining sex under Title IX, barring transgender military service, and restructuring federal agencies to align more closely with presidential control. Criticized by President Biden and dismissed by Trump, the plan is not an official GOP proposal but could face legal challenges if implemented.

  • 1:34 | service and outlying pornography saying quote,
  • 1:37 | people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned.
  • 1:40 | End quote.
  • 1:41 | But the biggest proposed change would be to the executive branch.

  • 2:00 | In the event the former president returns to the White House planning to

  • 2:08 | A conservative think tank in Harrisburg says the plan
  • 2:11 | would help return decision making power to the States.
  • 2:14 | I think there is a huge concern about the power of bureaucrats in
  • 2:17 | Washington DC. And
  • 2:19 | certainly those are the concerns on the other side of like, well, the president
  • 2:23 | can come in and fire everyone.
  • 2:24 | There’s no continuity Christopher Beam,
  • 2:26 | managing editor of the mccourtney Institute for Democracy at Penn State
  • 2:30 | says the proposal would undermine the integrity of federal agencies,
  • 2:33 | making them a political tool for any administration.
  • 2:36 | These individuals who
  • 2:38 | normally were working to tell you the most accurate information will suddenly be
  • 2:46 | working
  • 2:47 | for the President.
  • 2:48 | And at the President’s Pleasure Project 2025 suggests dismantling the
  • 2:52 | Department of Homeland Security and eliminating the Department of Education.
  • 2:56 | The document refers to the FBI as quote, a bloated, arrogant,
  • 2:59 | increasingly lawless organization,
  • 3:01 | end quote and proposes the next administration quote,
  • 3:04 | eliminate any offices within the FBI that it
  • 3:06 | has the power to eliminate without any action
  • 3:09 | from Congress and quote under the plan,
  • 3:11 | the FBI would answer more closely to the Department of Justice,
  • 3:14 | a wing of the executive branch which would also be overhauled on day one.
  • 3:18 | It states quote, considering all of the many challenges facing the DOJ,
  • 3:21 | the next Conservative administration should terminate and recall all
  • 3:25 | details of DOJ personnel shortly after the president’s inauguration.
  • 3:29 | I think there is concern of, um
  • 3:32 | you know, the current administration and potentially, you know,
  • 3:34 | the next administration
  • 3:36 | um of, you know,
  • 3:38 | of weaponizing the justice department to go after political opponents while
  • 3:41 | the document claims the Biden administration
  • 3:43 | has weaponized the Justice Department.
  • 3:45 | It also suggests the DOJ should be
  • 3:47 | completely under the President’s control project.
  • 3:49 | 2025 says the next Conservative administration should quote,
  • 3:52 | issue guidance to ensure that litigation decisions are consistent
  • 3:56 | with the president’s agenda and the rule of law.
  • 3:58 | If you institute these kind of changes, you clearly have a presidency
  • 4:04 | with significantly less checks.
  • 4:07 | President Biden has called out the document’s agenda saying quote,
  • 4:10 | Project 2025 should scare every single American end quote.
  • 4:14 | Meanwhile former President Trump claims to be unaware
  • 4:16 | of the document saying in opposed to truth,
  • 4:18 | social quote.
  • 4:19 | I know nothing about project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it.
  • 4:23 | I disagree with some of the things they are saying and some of
  • 4:25 | the things they are saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal anything they do.
  • 4:29 | I wish them luck but I have nothing to do with them. End quote.
  • 4:32 | I think this is a, a blueprint.
  • 4:33 | Um, obviously that’s different than what the Republican party platform uh is,
  • 4:38 | uh I suspect uh should President Trump win?
  • 4:41 | He would take some of the recommendations from this. I don’t see any argument
  • 4:46 | as to how that would not be not only a distinctive moment
  • 4:50 | in American history but also an
  • 4:52 | extremely dangerous moment for American democracy.
  • 4:55 | Though the plan has received praise from some Republicans
  • 4:58 | project 2025 is not an official party proposal.
  • 5:01 | Much of what’s contained in the document would likely face
  • 5:04 | significant legal challenges if enacted
  • 5:06 | by a future conservative administration.
