To The REVIEW:

Last week, President Joe Biden approved emergency requests from states for federal help following Hurricane Helene and directed the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency to travel across the region to assess the damage. FEMA also deployed more than 1,270 rescuers.

Did you know that Project 2025 calls for slashing FEMA’s budget, gutting federal flood insurance, and dismantling NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), the agency that issues hurricane warnings?

Project 2025 is a policy plan by the Heritage Foundation to guide the next conservative president and amass power in the executive branch. Donald Trump disavows it but praises its authors — nearly 75 percent of whom worked in his administration — and there are numerous similarities between it and his campaign promises.

Among its policy proposals, Project 2025 would:

  • Eliminate the Department of Education and Head Start.
  • Repeal the Affordable Care Act and insurance protections for preexisting conditions.
  • Slash corporate income taxes.
  • Fire thousands of civil service workers.
  • Cut the FBI’s funding and eliminate the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Reduce visas for seasonal migrant workers and deport 20 million immigrants.
  • Gut the Environmental Protection Agency’s climate regulations and defund the transition to renewable energy.
  • Eliminate the federal government’s ability to negotiate prices for Medicare drugs.
  • Abolish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
  • Gut farm subsidies and crop insurance programs.
  • Cut Medicaid and benefits for disabled veterans.
  • Eliminate federal funds for schools.

Educate yourself about Project 2025 and then vote for Kamala Harris to make sure its vision for America never becomes reality.
